Importance of New Wiring for Construction Projects

Once upon a time, the majority of newly constructed homes and buildings had simple wiring installed. Not much more than alternating current (AC) electrical power lines, a few phone lines, and a few TV cables. However, we are well past that now. New construction wiring is intricate and complex and needs to power a lot more electronics than in the past. So it is crucial to get it done right. Otherwise, it could be a safety hazard.

Many new construction homes get wiring for home automation. There are several unique and highly specific requirements that need to be met in order to meet the demand for the new, innovative smart homes. And the kicker is that, for the most part, these requirements connect to the same power lines. So there needs to be a little planning beforehand to make sure the new construction project is properly wired.

How We Help

When you turn to us, one of the first things we look to do is run neutral wires to all junction boxes. Making your preference known ensures you will always have a neutral wire available. Most power line home automation devices require neutral wires.

Next, we suggest deep junction boxes. These deeper junction boxes gives you more room to work, accommodate deeper in-wall devices, and in general make your life easier. We may also install (and wire) extra junction boxes. You may not initially have use for them at first. So you can cover them with a faceplate. We recommend this, because it is a lot easier to install one in the early stages on construction, instead of doing it later.

Then we install cable conduits everywhere you could imagine. Always trying to anticipate a need for wires of any kind. Cable conduits are separate from an electrical conduit. They are used to run speaker wire, video cable, network cable, etc. When it comes to new construction wiring, we install conduits in walls even if you don’t anticipate using them right away. Again, it’s just easier to install a piece of the conduit during construction than it is any time after a wall is built. Because then you’d need to somehow fish it through the wall, which can be troublesome.
